Ambiance Congo for Sunday February 15, 2009

This edition, I played a lot of LPs from Zaiko family artists and groups, not Zaiko Langa Langa, but artists who worked with Zaiko Langa Langa or in groups that were related. There was of course a whole lot more...a little bit of Wenge, a killer track from Lutmba Simaro and others.
We experienced a few technical problems at the station and the program was not recorded properly so this post will be a special one and it will be a little different. I hope that you'll enjoy it.

The album covers shown here are from the LPs played on this afternoon's program. The tracklist follows and at the bottom of this page is a link to a zip file that contains the songs played from these albums. Songs on CDs played are not included and are listed in smaller type.

Many thanks David. I've only just discovered your program and I've been ploughing through the archives. Congolese music is ever so special because it is from the heart of African. Bantu people, who make up most of Africa's population, originated from the Cameroon-Congo area and migrated to other parts of Africa. So it is not a cliché to say that Congolese has something very special for all Africans.
BTW - This zip file has only six out of the 14 tracks featured in the list. Will you be posting the full program with all the other tracks?

Many thanks for uploading this file. Should there be another file (part 2) as the unzipped version contains only 6 songs while you have listed more? Apurva/ Pune, India

Hi David, It's wonderful that you post the LP covers to go with the songs....like you, I've always enjoyed the album art while listening to the music. Keep up the great work!

Thanks bokulaka! It actually requires a bit of effort to do that, so I am glad to see that it is appreciated.
