  1. Thanks so much for your blog and programming. I've been listening to Congolese music since the early 80s and it's almost impossible to find now. Many of the internet radio stations that had played it have disappeared and U.S. retailers have all but abandoned the genre. Speaking of which, does anyone know if there are any decent purveyors of this music still operating on these shores?
Again, Ambiance Congo, thank you for making this treasure available to us.

Thanks so very much for your note.
Yes there are still a couple of good stores here in USA.

Try this one for starters: www.panafricanallstars.com

  4. Apurva, your regular comments are appreciated. Is Congolese music popular in India?

  5. David - Apart from a few albums of common popular stuff like Osibisa or Mory Kanté, African music is just not available in India. Our country has tons of popular and classical music, so we are not exactly short of choices, but African stuff is generally not available. Getting quality African music regularly is where the power of internet is most evident to me - bringing the entire globe closer. Apurva

  6. Apurva, in the period of twenty to thirty or thirty-five years ago, there were a number of African record boutiques in big cities here such as New York and Washington DC. Now those stores are much fewer and much farther between.
We rely on the internet now as well, but that is OK. I am finding wonderful and exciting mucic on the net that I never saw on LP.
