Ambiance Congo: November 18,2012

Welcome!
Lorraine, a local listener, commented that she'd like to hear another program dedicated to the vocal talents of Congolese women. You may hear the first edition of the series here: http://www.radio4all.net/index.php/program/40676
Merci mingi, Lorraine!

So here you have it. Two hours of female vocalists in many styles of Congolese popular music.
Some great hip-swinging tracks  and wonderful sebenes are included!

Here are album covers:

Got to love the ladies! There are soaring vocals and sizzling guitars. I love the South African bassline in Yondo Sister's song. It underscores the Pan-African appeal of Lingala music!

  1. David, many thanks for showcasing the feminine side of Congo music - loads of really nice songs on the programme and some off-piste choices as well.
Meta Beya & Feza Shamamba, Nania & Baniel and, especially, Vonga Aye were all quality tracks.
I trust the Dezai CD will be making another appearance sometime soon - it sounds like it has potential to entertain.

  2. Thanks, Dave, for listening.
My favorites were the tracks from Nana & Baniel and from Dezai featuring Laeticia Melody.
Yeah. The Dezai CD will be back up soon.
    What does "off Piste" mean?

  3. Sort of "off the beaten track" or away from the regular well-worn slopes (as in skiing). Ultimately more rewarding but with the added excitement of possibly skiing into a tree!
