Ambiance Congo: March 23, 2014

Welcome!
Thank you everyone for your continued support of this program.
WRIR is an all volunteer radio station. As part of our mission to present music, news and opinion that is unrepresented or under represented, I bring you Ambiance Congo every other week. I do what I can to raise awareness of the great Congolese music. Twice per year we must ask others to help with this. So we have a fund-raiser.
Today's program was presented as part of that effort. Will you help with a small donation?

I extend my sincere thanks to those who donated to the cause during this program.

Beside our main studio, WRIR has a wonderful Live Room from which live music is broadcast. I could not get an appropriate band to play, so in lieu of that I have compiled and presented some excellent live recordings of Congolese music.

I hope that you will enjoy the program!

David, thanks for being Promoter/MC for the gig - all the entertainment of a proper show but without having to stand around waiting for people to come on stage. Brilliant! - that's my kind of concert.
I'm surprised you didn't include some Wazekwa, though. But maybe you'll have him on the next live outing?
On a sadder note, did you know Colombani Wa Senga had died? He had a wonderful CD out a few years ago called Preuve Par 9 and was (I think) about to release a new album. He was only 50.

  2. You still had to wade through some blather, though, Dave!
I don't have any of Colombani wa Senga's discs. Wish I did!
