These shows are just getting better and better, David. The mix of new, old and obscure is always good - and, as for obscure, what a find Sambadio et les Vivacite Melodia is/are - I was mighty impressed with that one.

Thanks for the Papa Wemba track - wonderful.

  5. Thanks DJD for your great contributions to this universe. Your music line-up brings peace. It is about time for anything Les Chics Men or Luciana Demingongo. Best.

  6. David!

I am amongst the first to download your new show but last to thank you.
An excellent show - am stuck at Burkina Faso's masterful fretwork on the Wenge Musica song. Also liked the Papa Wemba and Viva la Musica song.
I highly appreciate your sustained contribution to popularize Congolese music. Apurva from Pune, India.

  7. Welcome "anonymous"!
I'd love to know who you are, but it's cool that you wrote and I thank you. It IS about time to hear something from Chics Men again. I think I've played every song form their only disc, but I'll take this a request and spin a track like ADONIS again. If you'd rather hear a different track, please let me know.

  8. Apurva, it is always a pleasure to hear from you, my friend.
I did enjoy the same tracks as well. That Maison Mere CD is great. I remember listening to the Wemba album for the first time after buying it when it was new - about 1985 (?) I think - and playing it over and over and over at that time and then again and again for many years.
