Ambiance Congo: September 7, 2014

Welcome!
Today's program is an eclectic mix of LPs and CDs. We have Les Bantous de la Capitale to Wenge El Paris.
Requests for songs by Canon du Zaire and Empire Bakuba are here for you, plus a rather obscure CD featuring Bongo Wende on guitar.
I hope that you will enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed pulling the albums out, queuing up the songs and blasting them in the studio!

  2. Thanks for another quality show, David - some classy tracks and some nice obscurities.
I don't think I've seen that Didi Kalombo CD before so thanks for bringing that one to my attention.
And thanks for the Bongo Wende track, I liked that one.

Update: Project "Wende-e-e" is complete. Well, as complete as it's going to get with my very limited knowledge, that's for sure. Details to follow.

  3. Wrong time to start hearing Bongo Wende doing magic on Mathy, need to sleep for an early start tomorrow...

  5. Dave, I read your list of albums with Bongo Wende on the request link. As you know, I don't publish from there. It's a great list, though. I don't think I could do much better!

  6. I just came across a copy of Fafa de Molokai's Anti-Deception LP yesterday and guess what? Yep, that's right. 3 more shout-outs to our hero on "Anti-Deception", "Bienvenu Kindongo" and "Benita". It's a really nice LP but, surprisingly, I don't think you've played anything off it before.

Oh, and I made a mistake with the track "Ambro Djeni", it's on Meilleurs Succes de Papa Wemba Vol 2 and not on a Fafa LP.

With that all sorted out you'll no doubt be pleased to hear that I've suspended work on my next assignment, "Project Kimoko", indefinitely. Life's probably a bit too short for that one!
