This time around, I present another mix of newer and older music, another DJ set of music compiled on the spot.I received a request to feature some songs with guitarist Dally Kimoko, so you will get to hear three songs in a row with him: something from Nyboma & Les Kamale, a track from one of his solo albums and one from a relatively recent CD by Code Niawu.
There are also two songs from Papa Wemba, an older one and one from his new CD.
Two other albums played on this edition, by General Defao and Groupe Flash, were from albums from which you have requested to hear more.

I cannot count the number of requests I've received here and seen on other sites. I sometimes wonder if I own the only copy of this magnificent album. Recorded and produced in Gabon, this Congolese LP is an album worthy of the great music found on Global Groove, World Service and Oro blogs to name a few.

Magnificent? Yes. It is perfectly composed, orchestrated, arranged and performed.

You will love the incredible choreography of belted-out, from-the-belly throaty vocals of Mavuela Somo with two guitars in the lead and wild, hit-the-right-note-every-time synths. I would love to know who these musicians are! Some truly great sebenes here!

This time I wanted to add a tribute to the great Dindo Yogo, but I had no idea I'd get so far into his groove. I was not really prepped to do a "best of Dindo Yogo" program, so I did miss playing some favorite songs from some favorite albums. If you'd like to hear more, please do let me know.

Welcome!
An historic concert was held in Belgium on Friday night that celebrated 50 years of Congolese independence and 50 years of Congolese music.
For those of us who could not attend, I played a number of the original versions of the songs in the original set list for the concert, songs chosen and performed by artists still with us today to represent the rich history of Congolese music.
The concert was over four hours long and and I had only half that time for the program. I hope to give you here a taste of the inspiring music these artists had lined up to give their audience a night to remember. The songs here are all be songs available on CD in hopes that you will be able to get them for yourselves.

Welcome to Ambiance Congo!
The program this afternoon started off with a couple of tracks featuring the voice of Madilu System then moved on to some firey sebenes from Defao, Ruffin Nkoy Loola (featuring vocals by Aimelia Lias) and Felix Wazekwa.
We heard a couple of requests for songs from Le Quatro de Langa Langa and Tshala Muana with Meje 30, some classics by Les Bantous de la Capitale and by Youlou Mabiala then finished up with new music from Christian Lema and Montana Kamenga.
