I came across this post on Soukousman's blog http://soukousman.blogspot.com/2008/08/orchestre-mode-success-innovation-vol3.html .
Soukousman said he had only the one volume of the eight volume INNOVATION series of Orchestre Mode Succes and Orchestre Innovation and featuring such luminaries as Bopol and Nyboma. There are indeed eight volumes that I know of, perhaps there are nine.
Volumes 2 and 5 were released together as INNOVATION PRESENTE JULIOS LUKAU VOL. 2/5, a six-song album, but there was also, as you see here, a Vol.2 that carried different versions of four of those songs. In the link at the bottom of this page, I have included the fantastic extended version of CHERIE MAKWANZA from VOL.2. If there was an actual VOL.5, I would love to hear it!
Here are the front and back covers of VOLs. 3 and 4, the last two albums in the series of Orchestre Mode Succes.
VOLs. 6 through 8 featured Nyboma & Bovi on vocals, backed by Orchestre Innovation, a group of musicians who are, sadly, never individually listed.
Notice that, although the actual bands have changed, the producer has chosen the same sultry model for the covers of VOLs. 3 and 6.

Geez, I didn't know there were eight volumes in this series! All I have is two different pressings of Vol. 3 - one housed in the sleeve with the female model shown here, and one with the same cover art as Vol. 1 (to complicate things even further ...)

ReplyDeleteI am now beginning to wonder about the RENAISSANCE series. The albums in that series are numbered, like INNOVATION's INLP numbers, as RENLP.
I wonder if they were put out by the same producer and how many there were? I have only two of those.
I thought that Vol 3 & 4 of this series were pretty sweet, so the sampler is appreciated. Nice to see all the sleeves. Thanks.

the entire collection of the series of INNOVATION, the song "Petié, Je veux The Reconciliation" which belongs to the first volume. is also known in the Colombian coast as the "Health Health" is the most heard.

It seesm that there are other published versions of some of the later volumes, recorded not as Orchestre Innovation, but as Les Kamale.

Wuod, the two Renaissance LPs I have are solo LPs by Jean Raph Loumbet and by Ange Linaud, RENLP 001 and RENLP 002 respectively. I do not know if there were any more albums in the series.
