This edition, we heard yet another mix of classic albums and new CDs. Our second song this afternoon was penned by Shiko Mawatu, who also played guitar on the track. Shiko has suffered a stroke and is recovering. This song, with the Afro International of Mimi Ley, is dedicated to Shiko - please join me in my wishes for his rapid and full recovery- and is appropriate to Mother's Day as well.
We also heard a couple of secular songs by Carlyto and Makolin, artists whose gospel songs were featured on this blog back on Easter Sunday.
Some nice requests rounded out the program.
Here a few album covers:

Please do let me know how you liked the program.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you hear something that is new to you, please let me know if you'd like to hear more from that album or by that artist or group.
I am told that the volume level on the recorded version of this edition is very low.
ReplyDeleteI don't know a way to correct that, but I will address the issue with tech staff before the next program.
Many thanks to those who pointed this out!
The volume was unuaslly low, I had my car stereo @ "50" while I play my CDs at say 18-20! I said so in Africambiance ...:)
ReplyDeleteBut the music is superbe esp the first half, I have not listened to the second half yet as I am still stuck of the first half, playing it again and again and again!
The Afro international I hadnt heard b4
Thanks!

Thanks to David for the updates with the increased volume level - as always, fantastic selection of 999music. Would request even a higher level of volume for future editions of the programs. Apurva from Pune, India.

This last program also includes another song from the Pangala album of Carlito Lassa.
I'm dying to hear any cut by Tancut Almasi Orchestra, the now defunct Tanzanian band. They were based in the southern town of Iringa.
ReplyDeleteDo you know anything about the outfit please?
I'm sorry. I do not.
