David, thanks for yet another hugely enjoyable AC show - it's always good to hear some Le Peuple. I count seventeen people on the cover of that LP. Seventeen. Imagine how good they'd sound with just a few more guys in the band!

  3. Thanks Daudi for another great line-up of songs. A future line-up that includes one of the great songs by Bendoson or Titina Alcapone that you have not played before would be great. Please keep up the great work. You should be crowned King of Promotion and Preservation of African Music.

David, I have a question about the total disappearance of KarmaPa. Do you know what's happened to him? Maybe he got a "proper" job and no longer needs to trouble us with his fantastic music. Who knows.
Anyway, just to remind us what a great musician he is, how about giving one of his discs a spin next time round? The epic Lifolototo from Riposte would be great (and give you time to nip out and do some shopping or wash the car. Or both) but really, anything would be great. Cheers.

  6. Karmapa is getting ready to release a new one. Yeah. It has been awhile, hasn't it?
I'll be happy to play your song, Dave.

  7. Hey, Dave! I listened to Lifolototo again. Maybe if I do play it I'll follow your advice and leave the room! It may be long but it's long and awful! I think I'll pick something else if you don't mind, but if you want to that one, I'll play it anyway. And go wash the car while listening to something else :)

Hahaha. You're right about Liflototo - I like to think it's a challenging and uncompromising piece of work but really it's best described as a complete train-wreck. Still, there is something noisily magnificent about it, don't you think? Probably wouldn't want to take it to a desert island, though. Unless it was just to leave it there.
Thanks for playing the other Karmapa track and roll on the release of his new stuff; the man's a genius.
By the way, I loved the Twilight Zone synth stuff going on on that Minzoto Wela Wela track - although something tells me that the guy playing it hadn't had too much time to practise before they committed it to tape. Interesting.

  9. Dave, there are some really goofy keyboard elements in a number of songs by any number of groups. Lita Bembo has some as well.
