More vinyl than not today.
Great music from the 70s to around 2000.
Starting off with a wonderful track from Grand Zaiko, a request for one of O.K. Jazz's wonderful songs and a couple of "different versions" of classics by Les Bantous del la Capitale and by Afrisa International that I haven't played for you before and maybe a song or two that you may have never heard until today.

Fine show as always, David, good work putting it together.
ReplyDeleteYou may have already seen it, but if not, did you know that Modogo Gian Franco Ferre snuck a new double-CD/download onto the market over the summer? It's not bad actually, in a thoroughly retro sort of way..
https://www.amazon.com/Festival-Cannes-Modogo-Franco-Ferre/dp/B071GNNZCD/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511194805&sr=8-1&keywords=modogo
Thanks, David C.
ReplyDeleteI find digital music releases to be "convenient", but also annoying in that we never know who the contributing musicians are. There's some very nice guitar in that new release, but who is it playing???
Someone is scouring the streets of Paris to find me a real copy as we speak. If I get it I’ll let you know who the mystery man with the guitar is.
ReplyDeleteMy Parisian Congo-music detective very kindly found me a real copy of Modogo......but, there are absolutely no credits whatsoever on the CD inlays. Not even a single one. Never mind, at least I've got a 13-song DVD to watch of Modogo dancing around in his big hat. You don't get that with a download.
ReplyDeleteHahaha!
