Ambiance Congo: September 2, 2018

WELCOME!

Welcome to another edition of Ambiance Congo. If you are returning or a new listener, I am happy that you have chosen to listen to two hours of Congolese music.
Every two weeks, I try to play examples of diverse Congolese music, but I tend to play the music that I like and that is the great older music, especially music recorded in the 1970s and 1980s. Today is no exception. Check out the track from Franco's Ekaba Kaba!
I do try to play new music as well and many times I bring it along, but I always seem to end up playing mostly the Congolese music of the past. In my humble opinion, this is some of the greatest music ever recorded.
If you would like to hear more new music, just send me a comment with a request and I'll be happy to spin that for you.
This time I have two requests, one for a song by the great Theo Blaise Kounkou and another by King Kester Emeneya. The Emeneya song is from a session recorded in Japan in which some of the original versions of the songs were made with Papa Wemba's band on the Don Dass label, but this one is the pure heaven of  the King's Victoria Eleison.
We also have a song from Tabu Ley's first album recorded in France, a killer song with Josky Kiambukuta in Orchestre Continental and a great track by Verckys and l'Orchestre Veve.
I had a moment of love for the guitar work of Master Mwana Congo, one with  Theo Blaise and one with Didi Rapheal Louvila that I hope that you'll enjoy.
