Ambiance Congo: February 22, 2015

Welcome!
This program starts off with a GREAT track sung by the late Pompon Kuleta along with the group Afri-Jazz.
I could have played the song three or four times, but moved on to other music instead.
I wanted to play just rumba odemba, but got into other genres as well...and had a wonderful time.
I hope you'll enjoy this edition of Ambiance Congo.

Ambiance Congo: February 8, 2015

WELCOME!
Whether you are a new listener or an old friend returning, welcome to this radio program of Congolese music. A mix for you today of old and new, classic and innovative. We start with a song by the great Bana OK followed by a song, featuring a couple of the same singers, from a decade or two earlier by Franco & le TP OK Jazz.
I had an idea of where to go form there when I came to the station, but that changed after the third song and it became totally free form fun. I hope that you will enjoy, send you comments and requests.

Ambiance Congo: January 25, 2015

Welcome!
I have some new music mixed in this time for you. Elba's new album is "Top A" in my book.
There are also a number of your requests on the track list. Thanks so much for those! If you request anonymously, that's fine, but if you care to give a name you can get a shout next time! You are also invited to dedicate songs or send a greeting to a friend or family member.
If you want to see other album covers, please try entering the album or artist name in the search box and scroll through the results. I try not to post album covers more than once. Chances are I've posted what you're looking for at an earlier date.

Ambiance Congo: January 11, 2015

Welcome! We are off to a decent start this new year with lots of requests and, as always, more music not played before on this program. I always try to show the breadth, diversity and consistent quality of Congolese music by giving you a chance to hear something different every time. This time, I was asked to play something from an album I do not have, so I looked it up and converted the song from YouTube.
The song, requested by our friend Apurva, is LE JEUNE BOUCHER from BANGO OYO BAYE,
the last CD recorded by the ever magnificent Choc Stars. I would love to get a copy of this fine
album, but, alas, I cannot find one anywhere.
Roxy Tshimpaka's solo guitar on that song is just one example of the great guitar you'll hear on today's program as we hear from Popolipo, Rigo Star, Olivier Tshimanga and others.
