Do you enjoy this program? Do you listen to the archived programs? Would you like to keep them coming?
Then THANK YOU for donating to WRIR 97.3 FM Richmond.
We have been having problems with our web service and our site was down during the actual live broadcast of this program.
You can still help by listening and donating at http://www.wrir.org/tunein/
Yet another place to listen to thew latest edition of Ambiance Congo and showing your appreciation at the same time!
As you'll no doubt hear, EVERYONE at WRIR is a volunteer. No one gets paid, so when you donate you are giving yourself a present. Period.

I have a good mix of great music for you today. Some real classics from African Fiesta, T.P. O.K. Jazz, Viva la Musica and another track by Afri-Jazz et les Grosses Tetes. New music, too, that I've carefully selected for your enjoyment including a killer cut from Alain Bikindou's CD.

Ambiance Congo: April 5, 2015

Welcome!
This program was presented on Easter Sunday, so we start out with a few songs that are or seem to be appropriate to the day. There is some great guitar work on some of these religious songs from Rigo Star, Nene Tchakou and others, so don't miss out.
Our friend George M. in New Jersey requested something "by Aurlus Mabele back in the day", so I've picked a pretty good song by him and also a song from Awilo Longomba's first solo album - his best in my opinion.
Enjoy the program here:

Ambiance Congo: March 22, 2015

WELCOME!
You are always welcome to listen to Ambiance Congo.
Today, I seem have chosen a lot of music from the late 1980s to early 2000s.
Sitting here in the middle of the night with my mansanga, listening to and enjoying  the program for the first time
I don't get to hear the shows as I present them. It's all ad lib and I'm constantly queuing up the next song. Even when I've planned something, I get inspired by the sheer volume and variety of Congolese music and the programs never proceed as planned.
But this a good one, I think. I hope that you'll agree and leave a comment or request.

You are invited to listen to this program and to many other editions at

Ambiance Congo: March 8, 2015

WELCOME!
Thanks to everyone who was anticipating this post and who asked about it.
It was a very busy week for me and I just could not get to this. I also had some issues with sound quality which have been remedied for the zip file but not yet at Radi4all.
But here it is!
I started off the program with a salute to the ladies on International Women's Day and then jumped around quite a bit.
As usual, when I have a big box of LPs and CDs with me in the studio, I get distracted by all the great opportunities to take the music in another direction and there's a lot of that reflected in this edition of Ambiance Congo.
I hope that you will enjoy!
