Thanks for another fine show, David - some really nice songs again.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear something off the Ephesiens CD by the all-star Afri-Jazz. Do you know much about them? I read that they were formed by Dalienst in the mid-90s and I believe there are a couple of other CDs out with their name on. That's all I know. Do you think Ephesiens is a compilation or re-recordings of the other stuff? Damn fine, whatever it is.
Good evening, Dave.
ReplyDeleteTo my knowledge, The group Afri-Jazz only made two CDs. The first was called FRAPPE AERIENNE. The second was EPHESIENS. The second contains all the songs of the first plus two.
Great line up for the group. Mostly singers are OK Jazz veterans (Youlou Mabiala, Wuta Mayi, Dalienst) plus guys like Serge Kiambukuta, Pompon Kuleta and others.
The guitars are by Michelino, Papa Noel and Caen Madoka, so you cannot go wrong. If you cna find either CD, snap it up. I think EPESIENS may still be available through Cyriaque Bassoka.
A fantastic program! Many thanks for sharing. Apurva from Pune, India.
ReplyDeleteIt is always good to hear from you, Apurva. Thanks for listening and for your comment!
