Ambiance Congo: March 8, 2015

WELCOME!
Thanks to everyone who was anticipating this post and who asked about it.
It was a very busy week for me and I just could not get to this. I also had some issues with sound quality which have been remedied for the zip file but not yet at Radi4all.
But here it is!
I started off the program with a salute to the ladies on International Women's Day and then jumped around quite a bit.
As usual, when I have a big box of LPs and CDs with me in the studio, I get distracted by all the great opportunities to take the music in another direction and there's a lot of that reflected in this edition of Ambiance Congo.
I hope that you will enjoy!

Nice show David, and thanks for putting in another AC shift and taking time to post some album covers and track details on the blog. Much appreciated.

I have to tell you about a couple of high quality new releases from the last couple of months that may interest you; namely "Kongo Dia Ntotila" from someone called Alain Bikindou and "Come Back" from a guy called Solbaka. I have no idea who either of them are but Caen Madoka plays on both, whilst Popolipo, Luciana, Lassa L'Acolyte and Celezino were happy to contribute to the latter's CD.

Both CDs have great songs, some really tasteful playing and some nice rumba. Thoroughly enjoyable, check 'em out.

  3. Thanks Dave. I'll check those out.
Have you heard Pascal Poba's latest? If so, what's your take on it?

Re Pascal Poba and Pyramide Renversee; It's pretty similar to his "Sucre Sale" CD, though it has what sound like two or three re-recordings of stuff from his "Reflexions" CD in an un-plugged sort of style. Overall, I quite like it.
The only annoying thing is that it comes in one of those cardboard slip-cases, so you can never find it amongst a stack of other CDs. Damn those things.
